Six Vehicles Damaged in Gas Explosion at Katsina Filling Station

November 15, 2024

A gas cylinder explosion occurred at a filling station in Jibia Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State on November 15, causing significant damage to about six vehicles.

According to the state police spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, the explosion was heard by police officers at the Jibia Divisional Police Headquarters, prompting an immediate response.

Meanwhile, The Divisional Police Officer (DPO), in collaboration with the military, led a team to the scene to assess the situation and implement preventive measures to protect lives and reduce further property damage as they successfully extinguished the fire before it could spread further.

While the explosion caused extensive damage to six vehicles, fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident. The quick response of the security forces prevented any fatalities, and the situation was brought under control.

Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, the Commissioner of Police for Katsina State, has ordered a thorough investigation into the cause of the explosion as the police have assured that updates on the investigation will be provided as new developments arise.
