March 6, 2025

The Senate has suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for six months following her sexual harassment allegation against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. The suspension, recommended by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, includes the withdrawal of her salary and security details, and she is prohibited from being seen around the National Assembly during this period. Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, had formally accused Akpabio of misconduct in a petition, sparking the controversy that led to her suspension.
