Nigerian music sensation Michael Adebayo, popularly known as Ruger, has achieved a significant milestone in his career as his hit song Asiwaju earned gold certification in France. This accolade signifies that the track has sold over 500,000 copies across various formats, further cementing Ruger’s place on the global music stage.
The achievement was highlighted in posts on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), which also revealed that Asiwaju has garnered over 15 million streams. Fans of the artist celebrated the news enthusiastically, with members of Wizkid FC, the fanbase of Afrobeats star Wizkid, joining in the congratulations.
In a recent lighthearted exchange on X, Ruger, who has openly expressed admiration for Wizkid, reached out to the music icon with a playful request. He asked Wizkid to consider naming him as the inheritor of his fanbase if he ever decides to retire from music and his son, Zion, chooses a different career path. “@wizkidayo if you ever decide to not do music again, and Zion no wan do music Slsef, pls write my name Ruger as the person to inherit your fanbase in your music will,” Ruger tweeted.
Wizkid, known for his dedicated and influential fanbase, has not yet responded to the request.
