Raphael Onyedika Reflects on First Champions League Goal After Brugge’s Defeat

January 30, 2025

Club Brugge midfielder Raphael Onyedika expressed his excitement after scoring his first-ever UEFA Champions League goal during his team’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium. Onyedika opened the scoring for the Belgian side just before halftime, but Manchester City came back strongly in the second half, scoring three goals to secure the win.

Reflecting on the goal, Onyedika described the feeling as amazing, particularly given it was his first in such a prestigious competition, and expressed pride in the achievement. He acknowledged that while Brugge’s early goal was a boost, their sloppiness allowed City to build momentum, making it more difficult for them after conceding the equalizer.
