President Tinubu Commissions Nigeria Immigration Service’s Technology Complex in Abuja
President Bola Tinubu has officially commissioned the Nigeria Immigration Service’s (NIS) Technology Innovation Complex at the service’s headquarters in Abuja.
The complex is a major step forward in enhancing Nigeria’s immigration systems, featuring several key components, including the Command and Control Centre, the NIS Data Centre, the ECOWAS Biometric Card Production Centre, and the Interior Data Centre. Additionally, a 0.5KW solar power plant has been installed to support the facility.
During the opening address, Comptroller-General of Immigration Kemi Nandap highlighted the significance of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex. She noted that the facility is designed to assess the risk levels of individuals entering the country, identify irregular migration patterns, and monitor unmanned borders, especially in difficult-to-reach areas. Nandap emphasized that these advancements are setting new standards for the use of technology in securing Nigeria’s borders and ensuring national security.
President Tinubu arrived at the event at approximately 12:08 pm, where he was warmly received by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap. The commissioning ceremony was attended by several key figures, including the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and other agency heads.
The launch of the Technology Innovation Complex marks a significant development in Nigeria’s efforts to modernize its immigration processes and improve border security. With advanced technological tools in place, the country aims to better manage migration and enhance national safety.
