President Tinubu Calls for Peaceful, Credible Election as Ondo Prepares for Governorship Polls
As Ondo State prepares for its off-cycle governorship election on Saturday, November 16, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on political stakeholders and voters to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible process.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President emphasized the importance of upholding democratic principles, urging all participants to respect the will of the people and conduct themselves with maturity and decorum throughout the election process.
President Tinubu encouraged citizens to vote confidently and without fear, assuring them that their rights should be protected both during and after the election.
He also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its efforts in ensuring the timely distribution of sensitive electoral materials to all 18 local government areas in Ondo State, calling it a critical step toward ensuring a successful election.
The President further commended the Inspector-General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff for deploying security personnel across the state to maintain a safe and secure voting environment. He emphasized the need for professionalism and strict adherence to the Electoral Act to uphold law and order during the election.
In his statement, Tinubu highlighted the significance of the election in Ondo State, stressing that it is the people who have the right to choose their leader. He reiterated his commitment to the ongoing consolidation of Nigeria’s democratic progress, emphasizing that credible elections are essential to the country’s stability and growth. The President called on all Nigerians to view the Ondo election as an opportunity to strengthen democratic values and principles across the nation.
