President Tinubu Allocates N108 Billion for Natural Disaster Relief Across States
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the allocation of N108 billion to support states in addressing natural disasters, with each state receiving N3 billion to enhance their response efforts.
The announcement comes as Borno State, led by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, grapples with severe flooding caused by the failure of the Alau Dam water channels. Governor Zulum confirmed receiving N3 billion from the Federal Government to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the state.
In a statement, Vice President Kashim Shettima expressed the President’s dedication to partnering with states to tackle disaster-related issues. “The President has shown his zeal, willingness, and commitment to work with the states on these challenges,” Shettima stated.
Shettima further emphasized, “Recently, he approved the release of N3 billion to each state of the federation to address some of these challenges, ensuring that every region has a stake and sense of belonging in this national effort.”
The funding is aimed at improving disaster management and supporting states in their recovery and mitigation efforts, reflecting the federal government’s commitment to enhancing resilience across the country.
