Presidency Confirms Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid in 2027
The presidency has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu will seek re-election in the 2027 presidential election, putting an end to speculation about his political plans.
Speaking to journalists at the All Progressives Congress (APC) headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Public Communication and Media, Daniel Bwala, announced that the president is constitutionally eligible to contest for a second term and is committed to running.
According to Bwala, Tinubu’s performance during his first term will “naturally endear Nigerians to vote him for a second term,” citing the president’s focus on addressing critical issues affecting citizens.
“The president is more than eminently qualified constitutionally to contest for a second term in office,” Bwala stated.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s administration remains dedicated to tackling national challenges, including food security, agricultural reform, and reducing poverty.
“The president is currently focused on issues that border on the Nigerian people: to make sure that people come out of hunger, to ensure that agriculture brings about the expected revolution, and to address everyday problems Nigerians face,” he said.
Bwala added that while the administration is focused on governance, the APC is confident in Tinubu’s chances for re-election when the time for political campaigning arrives.
“The time for politicking is not yet, and when that time comes, we will be ready for everyone. God willing, if God grants Mr. President life and health, we are optimistic he will run his course as provided by the constitution,” Bwala concluded.
This statement reaffirms the APC’s confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and sets the stage for his potential second-term campaign in 2027.
