Police Rescue abducted Wife of Retired AIG, Neutralize Kidnappers in Ogun State

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force successfully rescued Mrs. Folasade Odumosu, the wife of retired Assistant Inspector General Hakeem Odumosu, following her abduction in Ogun State. The rescue operation was conducted by the Ogun State Police Command, with support from the Force Headquarters’ technical intelligence platforms. The police tracked down the kidnappers in the swampy area of Ikorodu, where they engaged in a gunfight, neutralizing two of the criminals while others fled.
The incident began on January 16, 2025, when Mrs. Odumosu was abducted by four masked gunmen outside her home in Arepo, Ogun State. The Ogun State Police’s anti-kidnapping unit quickly launched an investigation and initiated a pursuit of the suspects. With the help of surveillance and intelligence gathering, the operatives tracked the kidnappers to a creek in Ikorodu, where the confrontation took place on January 23, 2025.
During the operation, the police recovered several weapons, including four AK-47 rifles, three locally made rifles, and various ammunition. They also recovered N10 million in ransom money that had been paid to the kidnappers. Mrs. Odumosu was found unharmed during the operation and has since been reunited with her family after undergoing a medical evaluation.
The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, praised the Ogun State Police Commissioner, Lanre Ogunlowo, and the operatives for their swift and effective response. The police operation highlighted the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to combat kidnapping and violent crimes, reaffirming their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens across the country.
