Police Arraign Lawyer for Alleged False Accusations Against Ondo Governor

A 53-year-old lawyer, Wale Odusola, has been arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court in Akure, Ondo State, for allegedly using his Facebook page to criticize Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
He was accused of posting a video in which he claimed the governor had neglected his constituency and failed to act in a parochial manner. The charge sheet also alleged that Odusola accused Aiyedatiwa of having an extramarital affair with the state’s finance commissioner, Omowunmi Isaac. Prosecutors argued that his statements could incite public unrest and damage the governor’s reputation.
Odusola pleaded not guilty, and his defence team sought bail, stating that the offence was bailable and that he was willing to comply with all conditions. Magistrate Sunday Adedapo granted him bail on self-recognition and adjourned the case to May 5, 2025, for further hearing.
