Peter Obi Raises Concern Over 2025 UTME Results, Criticizes Nigeria’s Failing Education System

May 6, 2025

Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor, and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has raised alarm over the 2025 UTME results, describing them as a disturbing reflection of Nigeria’s failing education system, with over 78 percent of candidates scoring below 200. He blamed decades of underinvestment and neglect, urging aggressive education reforms and strategic investment to drive national development and reduce poverty, while drawing comparisons with countries like Bangladesh and Turkey that have surpassed Nigeria in educational progress.
