Pakistan Militants Attack Passenger Train in Balochistan, Several Injured

Armed militants from the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) attacked and halted the Jaffar Express train in Pakistan’s Balochistan region while it was traveling from Quetta to Peshawar. The group claimed responsibility, stating they bombed the track before storming the train in Sibi district, asserting control and allegedly holding passengers, including security officers, hostage.
However, officials have not confirmed any hostages. Reports indicate three people, including the train driver, were injured, and security forces have been dispatched. The attack occurred in a remote, mountainous area with no internet or mobile network coverage, complicating communication. Balochistan, despite being rich in natural resources, remains Pakistan’s least developed province, where the BLA has waged a decades-long insurgency, frequently targeting infrastructure and security forces.
