Oyo State Government Enhances Civil Service with Better Pay, Training, and Promotions

The Oyo State Government has significantly improved the civil and public service under Governor Seyi Makinde, with enhanced welfare, training, and promotions for civil servants. The administration has sponsored training programs both nationally and internationally, including courses at NIPSS, NISS, and short-term programs in the UK, South Africa, and Senegal to boost administrative efficiency. Civil servants now benefit from an annual merit award, increased salaries, and a minimum wage of ₦80,000, making them among the best-paid in the country. Housing and car loan provisions have been expanded, and long-overdue promotions from Grade Level 16 to 17 have been implemented since January 2020. The appointment of 45 Permanent Secretaries across key sectors has strengthened governance, while consistent pension payments, gratuities, and a 13th-month salary for both active and retired workers further demonstrate the administration’s commitment. Hazard allowances for fire service personnel and road traffic officers have also been increased to enhance performance. Civil servants have been urged to remain dedicated to their duties for the continued progress of Oyo State.
