Oyo Police Warn Against Circulating Fake News on Alleged Abductions

March 18, 2025

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed a viral video claiming residents were being abducted by security personnel, clarifying that the footage is from the 2020 EndSARS protests. Police spokesperson CSP Adewale Osifeso stated that reports confirmed the clip was outdated and no longer relevant as he condemned the spread of misinformation, attributing it to those trying to incite fear. Furthermore, he urged residents to remain calm and assured them of the police’s commitment to maintaining security, while Commissioner of Police Johnson Adenola cautioned against sharing old, misleading videos.
