Osun Assembly Confirms Members of Local Government Election Appeal Tribunal

The Osun State House of Assembly has confirmed three nominees to serve on the Appeal Tribunal for the upcoming local government election scheduled for February 22, 2025.
The nominees—Mr. Oluwaseun Ajoba, Mrs. Lateefat Agbaje, and Mr. Tajudeen A. Giwa—were screened and confirmed during Monday’s plenary session. Their nomination was formally submitted by the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyebola Ojo.
Speaker of the Osun Assembly, Mr. Adewale Egbedun, commended his colleagues for the successful screening exercise and congratulated the confirmed tribunal members. He urged them to approach their responsibilities with fairness and prioritize the state’s interest.
“The integrity of the electoral process is crucial to the growth of our democracy,” Egbedun stated. “I trust that the tribunal members will discharge their duties diligently and impartially.”
The confirmation process followed a formal request by the Assembly last Friday for the nominees to appear for screening, after receiving the letter of nomination from the Chief Judge. The exercise was conducted in line with Section 93 (4) of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (Amendment No. 1) Law, 2024.
The tribunal will be tasked with addressing appeals and disputes arising from the local government elections, ensuring a transparent and fair process.
The Osun Local Government Election will serve as a significant test of the state’s commitment to grassroots democracy, with residents set to elect their local government representatives on February 22, 2025.
