Ondo state government Issues Ultimatum to Akeredolu’s Allies Over Misappropriated Assets
The Ondo State Government has expressed concern over the significant number of state-owned properties reportedly transferred to private individuals following the death of former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu a year ago.
The state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Kayode Ajulo, has called for the immediate return of these assets and warned that those who fail to comply will face legal action.
The government highlighted the need to address the misappropriation of public resources, emphasizing its commitment to enforcing accountability and adherence to the law as he criticized the resistance faced by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s administration in its efforts to uncover the unauthorized transfers, noting attempts to suppress inquiries through blackmail and unfounded accusations.
The Attorney General dismissed claims that the investigation tarnished the legacy of the late governor or targeted his family, urging individuals involved to provide explanations rather than resort to media attacks. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to recover unlawfully acquired assets and ensure that public resources serve the people of the state.
