Ogunmodede Unveils Squad for Home-Eagles’ CHAN Qualifier Against Ghana
Stand-in head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has unveiled the 18-man squad for the home-based Super Eagles ahead of their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against the Black Galaxies of Ghana. The announcement comes after 12 players were dropped from the initial 30-player camp.
Ogunmodede has opted for two goalkeepers, Kayode Bankole of Remo Stars and Henry Ozoemena of Enyimba FC. Veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali, talented right-back Sadiq Ismail, and experienced striker Sikiru Alimi are among the notable players selected for the crucial encounter.
The first leg of the qualifier is scheduled for Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kick-off set for 5 p.m. Nigerian time. The second leg will take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Saturday, December 28th. The winner on aggregate will secure a ticket to the main competition, which will be held from February 1st to 28th, 2025, in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
