NSCDC Kwara Command Deploys 2,500 Officers for Yuletide Security
The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has announced the deployment of 2,500 officers to safeguard critical national assets and ensure the safety of residents across the state during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
The deployment, ordered by the State Commandant, Dr. Umar J.G. Muhammed, includes officers from specialized units such as the Armed Squad Unit, Operation Harmony, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Unit, and the Anti-Vandal Unit. These officers have been strategically stationed across all 16 local government areas in Kwara State to ensure a peaceful and secure holiday season.
In addition to the uniformed officers, plainclothes operatives from the Intelligence and Investigation Department have been tasked with 24/7 surveillance and patrols. Their focus will include recreational and religious centers, marketplaces, and critical government assets to deter criminal activities and enhance public safety.
Commandant Umar emphasized the importance of collaboration with other security agencies and local vigilantes to maintain order during the festive period. He extended warm holiday greetings to the residents of Kwara State while issuing a stern warning to criminal elements.
“Anyone planning to vandalize government property should think twice, as offenders will face severe legal consequences, including a 21-year jail term without the option of a fine,” Commandant Umar stated.
In a statement by Ayoola Michael Shola, the spokesperson of the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Commandant also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies promptly, ensuring collective responsibility in maintaining peace and security.
The deployment underscores the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical infrastructure while fostering a safe and joyous atmosphere for all during the Yuletide season.
