NSA Warns Lakurawa Terror Group: “No One Dares Tinubu and Wins”
Nigeria’s National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has issued a stern warning to the Lakurawa terror group, declaring that any group challenging President Bola Tinubu’s authority “will be eliminated.” Ribadu’s statement came amid heightened military deployments to combat escalating violence in the northwest, particularly in Kebbi State, where recent attacks in Augie Local Government Area led to the deaths of 17 villagers.
Speaking at the Comptroller-General of Customs conference in Abuja, Ribadu, representing President Tinubu, vowed that the government would soon dismantle Lakurawa for attempting to disrupt peace in the region. “This is Nigeria of 2024; we will finish them. No one dares Tinubu and wins,” he asserted.
In a robust message highlighting recent gains in national security, Ribadu attributed these improvements to unified efforts across Nigeria’s military and intelligence agencies. He credited Tinubu’s administration with restoring peace in previously volatile regions like the Niger Delta, where crude oil production has now reached 1.8 million barrels per day, and the South East, where tensions have eased.
Chief of Defence Staff , General Christopher Musa recently deployed additional troops to support security operations in Kebbi. With the military targeting the terror group in the region, Ribadu reiterated that President Tinubu’s approach would ensure long-term stability and deter any insurgent activity.
Ribadu also praised recent fiscal reforms that have stabilized Nigeria’s economy, citing Customs’ success in exceeding a N5 trillion revenue target. He noted that international confidence in Tinubu’s leadership is growing, with multiple world leaders seeking diplomatic engagement with Nigeria, further bolstering the nation’s global standing.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, shared the agency’s accomplishments in revenue collection and the seizure of contraband goods, while also announcing plans for a Customs University to develop future leaders in border security.
In a final tribute, Ribadu honored the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taofeek Lagbaja, recognizing him as a “loyal and committed” officer whose integrity and dedication had a lasting impact on Nigeria’s military.
