Nollywood Actress, Ruth Kadiri Criticizes Producers Demanding 1 million Views from Nollywood Actors

December 10, 2024

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has called out producers who pressure actors to achieve one million views on the first day of a movie’s release on YouTube.

Taking to her Instagram, Kadiri expressed her frustration with the unrealistic expectations set by some producers, emphasizing that such pressures are harmful to the industry and its talent. She noted that actors should not be burdened with the unrealistic demand for high numbers as a measure of success.

Kadiri advised her fellow Nollywood actors to disregard these pressures and urged them to focus on their craft rather than external metrics. “Dear Nollywood actors, take the pressure off your shoulders!” she wrote. She further explained that the emphasis on one million views as a benchmark for success is flawed and misleading. According to her, a successful production encompasses much more than just an actor’s face or popularity.

The actress highlighted that producing a good film involves a team effort and goes beyond the views or online performance. “A good production requires more than your face,” she explained, reinforcing that an actor’s value in a film should not be reduced to a mere number on a screen. Kadiri reminded her peers that the success of a movie should be measured by the quality of the work rather than the pressure to meet arbitrary digital goals.

In conclusion, Ruth Kadiri urged the Nollywood community not to let the ignorance of producers rob them of their joy and sense of accomplishment. “One million views is not a standard of success,” she asserted, cautioning against allowing such pressures to undermine their confidence and love for the craft. Her message serves as a reminder that the journey of filmmaking is about more than just numbers, and actors should stand firm against unrealistic expectations.
