Nigerian Troops Kill Notorious Terrorist Munzur Ya Audu in Yobe
Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed Munzur Ya Audu, a notorious terrorist commander, during an operation in Yobe State. The announcement was made on Thursday by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, at a press conference in Abuja.
Buba described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics bases and disrupt their networks. He emphasized that the military is intensifying its actions to degrade the operational capabilities of insurgent groups across the region.
During the operation, troops recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, which included 145 assorted firearms and 3,825 rounds of ammunition. Among the weapons seized were 68 AK-47 rifles, two PKT guns, one grenade launcher, 28 Dane guns, eight pump-action guns, and various other firearms and explosives.
Recovered ammunition included over 2,000 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 246 rounds of NATO-standard ammunition, and multiple explosive devices.
Buba highlighted that the success of the operation marks a significant step in the military’s campaign to restore peace and stability in Nigeria’s northeastern region. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and provide useful information to support ongoing security efforts.
The death of Munzur Ya Audu is considered a major blow to terrorist groups operating in the area, further underscoring the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating insurgency in the country.
