Nigerian Ports Authority Denies Corruption Claims, Restates Commitment to Transparency

The Nigerian Ports Authority has denied recent allegations of multi-billion-naira corruption, describing the reports as false, misleading, and lacking any factual basis. In a statement, the Authority said its financial activities are strictly monitored by the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Budget Office of the Federation, and the National Assembly, leaving no room for financial misconduct. The Authority explained that recent dredging works and procurement of marine equipment followed due process and were carried out in the national interest. It dismissed claims of withheld documents and irregularities at its London office. The NPA said staff promotions and appointments were conducted fairly, and it highlighted the Federal Executive Council’s approval of the Port Modernisation Programme as part of its efforts to improve port operations across the country.
