Nigerian Government Launches N5bn Initiative to Tackle Energy Poverty Among Women Nationwide

The Nigerian Government, through the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), has launched a N5 billion clean energy initiative tagged “PowerHer 774 – End Energy Poverty for Women,” aimed at providing affordable solar home systems for women in all 774 local government areas of Nigeria. Announced at a stakeholders’ forum in Abuja, CREDICORP MD Engr. Uzoma Nwagba said the initiative, under the Credit Access for Light and Mobility (CALM) Fund, will empower women with renewable energy solutions for their homes and businesses, reinforcing consumer credit as a tool for dignity and development.
