Nigerian Copyright Commission Seizes N20 Million in Pirated Books in Major Raid in Lagos
The Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC) conducted a significant raid on several bookshops in the Ajegunle area of Lagos State, seizing pirated books valued at approximately N20 million.
The operation which took place on Friday, November 1st was led by Mr. Charles Amudipe, Deputy Director and Head of Operations for the Lagos Office, with the assistance of copyright officers and security personnel.
Meanwhile, Lynda Alphaeus, Director of the Lagos Office, representing the NCC’s Director-General, emphasized that this raid is part of a broader campaign against piracy across the nation.
Furthermore, she highlighted the detrimental impact of piracy on publishers, authors, and the economy, reaffirming the commission’s zero-tolerance policy toward copyright infringement.
