Nigerian Communications Commission Sets Deadline for Telecom Operators to Update Contact Details or Face Fines
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has instructed all licensed telecommunications operators to update their contact details by January 9, 2025, in accordance with the Licensing Regulations 2019.
This directive is part of the NCC’s broader efforts to enhance regulatory oversight, improve industry processes, and strengthen the telecommunications sector in Nigeria.
To ensure compliance, the NCC warned that failure to update contact information could lead to penalties, including fines, license suspension, or even revocation. While the Commission did not specify the exact sanctions, it emphasized the importance of maintaining accurate contact details to facilitate effective communication and industry responsiveness.
Reuben Mouka, the Director of Public Affairs at the NCC, clarified that operators are required to report any changes to their contact details within seven days. Updates should be submitted through the NCC’s eServices platform, which is accessible at https://eservices.ncc.gov.ng.
The Commission specified that the updates must include the principal business address, mailing address if different, active email addresses, operational phone numbers, and the names and roles of personnel managing regulatory and operational matters. These steps are intended to streamline communication and ensure smooth collaboration within the telecommunications sector.
