Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps Leads Talks on Enhancing School Security in Ilorin Summit

Experts at a security summit in Ilorin, Kwara State, deliberated on the Federal Government’s Safe School Initiative, proposing strategies for its effective implementation. Organized by the Ilorin West Division of the NSCDC, the summit focused on strengthening security measures in schools and host communities, addressing challenges like kidnapping, cultism, and violence.
NSCDC State Commandant Dr. Umar Muhammed emphasized collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and community leaders to enhance school safety. Speakers highlighted the importance of intelligence sharing, surveillance, and early warning systems, aligning their recommendations with the global Safe Schools Declaration. The NSCDC, through the National Safe Schools Response Coordination Centre, remains committed to ensuring a secure learning environment for students nationwide.
