National Economic Council Launches Nutrition 774 Initiative to Tackle Malnutrition Nationwide.

The National Economic Council (NEC) has launched the Nutrition 774 Initiative to combat malnutrition and enhance human capital development across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas.
Announced during the 148th NEC meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima urged state governors, ministers, and private sector stakeholders to take urgent action, emphasizing that malnutrition affects productivity, education, and economic growth.
With nearly 40% of Nigerian children under five suffering from stunting, the initiative aims to improve coordination, financing, and accountability in tackling the crisis. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State and other stakeholders pledged their support. The NEC also reviewed the 2025 Economic Management Team (EMT) priorities, commending Nigeria’s economic strategies while stressing the need for a conducive environment for development.
