Minister of Information and National Orientation Calls for Media Literacy to Tackle Fake News and Misinformation

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has emphasized the need for media literacy to combat fake news, misinformation, and disinformation.Speaking at the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations’ Spokespersons Summit in Abuja, he highlighted the importance of equipping individuals with the ability to critically assess media content, while other speakers, including House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen and former Ogun Governor Olusegun Osoba, underscored the role of ethical communication and effective public engagement in restoring trust in institutions as the summit also featured the launch of the Nigerian Spokespersons Charter and Practice Code to promote professionalism, accountability, and ethical standards in public relations.
