Minister Blames Negligence for Deadly Iran Port Blast

At least 70 people were killed and over 1,000 injured in a massive explosion at Shahid Rajaee port in Bandar Abbas. The blast, which authorities say was triggered by undeclared cargo, severely affected nearly two-thirds of the port. Cleanup and recovery operations are expected to take up to two weeks. Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni says negligence and failure to follow safety procedures were to blame for the incident. Several individuals have been summoned for questioning. The Customs Administration confirmed the cargo had not been registered or formally declared, while the defence ministry denied reports linking the explosion to missile fuel chemicals.
