Mass Flight Cancellations Hit Paris Airports Amid Air Traffic Control Strike

Around 40% of flights at Paris airports were canceled on Friday, causing major disruptions for tens of thousands of travelers during the peak summer season, as French air traffic controllers went on strike demanding better staffing and wages amid rising travel demand and inflation.
The strike, which also impacted flights over French airspace, affected major airports including Charles de Gaulle, Orly, Nice, Marseille, and Lyon as airlines canceled hundreds of flights. At the same time, authorities warned of ongoing delays nationwide while the protest was fueled by staffing shortages, wage concerns, and opposition to new monitoring reforms following a near-collision incident.
