Mass Evacuations in Manitoba as Wildfires Rage Across Canadian Province

Manitoba has declared a state of emergency as wildfires force the evacuation of 17,000 people across multiple communities, including the entire city of Flin Flon. Prime Minister Mark Carney has approved military assistance to support the large-scale evacuation and provide shelter. Fires that began in neighboring Saskatchewan have grown rapidly, prompting evacuations in nearby Creighton as well. With 22 active fires and conditions worsening, water bombers, ground crews from across Canada, and emergency officials are battling to control the flames amid disrupted operations. The 2025 fire season is already outpacing historical averages, raising concerns of a repeat of Canada’s record-breaking 2023 wildfire crisis.
