Malam Abubakar Abubakar Appointed New Coordinator for Flying Eagles
Gombe United General Manager, Malam Abubakar Abubakar, also known as Yellow, has been appointed as the new coordinator for the Flying Eagles. This announcement was made via Gombe United’s social media channels, signaling a new chapter for the team as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
Currently, the Flying Eagles are gearing up for the WAFU B U-20 Championship in Abuja. Their preparations include a series of training matches, where they started with a narrow 1-0 victory against Water FC of Abuja. However, they faced a setback in their second match, losing 1-0 to Marlintarki.
The WAFU Championship is crucial, as it will determine which team represents the zone at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations. The stakes are high, and the players are focused on securing their place in this prestigious tournament.
In addition to Abubakar’s appointment, the Nigeria Football Federation recently named Aliyu Zubairu as the new head coach of the Flying Eagles. Notably, Abubakar and Zubairu have a history of collaboration, having worked together at Gombe United in 2023, which could foster a strong synergy as they aim for success with the national team.
