Lagos School Suspends Teacher Amid Child Abuse Allegations
The Management of Christ-Mitots International School in Isawo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, has suspended one of its teachers, Stella Nwadigo, after she was accused of mistreating and physically abusing a three-year-old child, Abayomi Micheal.
The incident was captured in a disturbing video shared on social media, showing the teacher slapping the child as thhe video quickly gained attention, prompting the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency to confirm the teacher’s arrest and assure the public that an investigation is underway.
The school management responded swiftly to the incident, describing it as deeply troubling and inconsistent with the institution’s values and principles. They emphasized that the behavior exhibited by the teacher was completely unacceptable, particularly given the school’s commitment to fostering a culture of respect, care, and dignity. As part of their response, Nwadigo was suspended indefinitely while the investigation continues.
In a statement, the school expressed its deep regret over the incident and extended apologies to the student and their family, assuring them that their needs would be addressed. The management also emphasized their zero-tolerance policy toward misconduct and their responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of every child under their care.
