Labour Party and APC Offer Contrasting Christmas Messages on Nigeria’s Economic Challenges and Future Hope
The Labour Party (LP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) have issued contrasting Christmas messages reflecting on Nigeria’s economic challenges and the hope for a brighter future.
The Labour Party lamented the economic hardship preventing many Nigerian families from fully participating in the 2024 Christmas celebrations. In a statement on Wednesday, the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, quoted the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, as saying that many homes are struggling due to the country’s economic crisis.
“It will interest you to know that not many homes in Nigeria can afford to join in today’s celebration of Christmas because of the economic challenges Nigeria is facing today,” Abure stated. He called on Nigerians to show compassion to those in need, adding, “Today’s celebration cannot be complete until we begin to allow the significance of the birth of Christ to manifest in our lives.”
Meanwhile, the APC urged Nigerians to keep hope alive, assuring them of brighter days ahead in 2025. In a message delivered on Tuesday by the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Durosinmi Meseko, in Lokoja, Kogi State, the APC highlighted the economic reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing their potential to bring about positive change.
“This Christmas, let us celebrate the spirit of hope and renewal. The policies of President Tinubu are already laying the foundation for a more prosperous Nigeria, and we can expect to see tangible results in 2025,” Meseko said.
He encouraged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their belief in a better future, reiterating the government’s commitment to addressing the nation’s challenges through its ongoing reforms.
As Nigerians navigate the festive season amidst economic difficulties, both parties called for unity, compassion, and optimism for a more prosperous future.
