Kwara Youths Call on Federal Government to Improve Safety on Okolowo Road

February 4, 2025

The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA), under the leadership of the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari CFR, has called on the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to urgently address the persistent dangers on the Okolowo Expressway following a tragic accident at the Oko Olowo-Alapa junction in Ilorin South that claimed the lives of a mother and her child.

In a statement signed by National President Alhaji Muhammad Uthman Jagunmo and PRO Alhaji Abdullahi AbdulFatai Oloyin, the association expressed deep concern over the alarming rate of accidents on the road and urged authorities to implement critical safety measures such as a flyover, speed bumps, road signs, and stricter traffic regulations to prevent further loss of lives. Emphasizing that these fatalities are preventable, IEYDA stressed the need for swift government intervention to enhance road safety and protect the lives of commuters.
