Kwara Youths Call for Exemption of Igbomina Land from Ilorin Smart City Project

The Igbomina Youth Assembly, representing the youth of Igbomina descent in Kwara South, has called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to reconsider the decision to acquire 19,301 hectares of Igbomina land for the Ilorin Smart City project.
While expressing support for the project, the group, led by Chairman Olugbenga Friday Ajibola, urged that the land in Ifelodun Local Government Area be excluded from the initiative to protect the ancestral heritage of the Igbomina people.
The youth emphasized that their appeal is made in the interest of peace and harmony, stating that while they do not oppose the project itself, they wish to ensure that their cultural heritage is preserved and not compromised. Ajibola described the assembly as a unifying force for Igbomina youth and called for the governor’s understanding to prevent any potential disharmony.
