Kwara State Government Reintroduces Free Transportation to Ease Economic Burdens
In response to the economic challenges posed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s reforms, the Kwara State Government, led by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has reintroduced a free transportation initiative for residents.
This measure aims to alleviate the financial burden on commuters amid ongoing economic adjustments.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Technology recently released a pricing template detailing the routes included in the initiative as buses operating along key routes such as Post Office to Tanke, Unilorin, Oja, Eyenkorin, Amayo, Mandate, Oyun, UITH, and Okeose will now offer free rides for all commuters.
Previously, transportation costs for these routes ranged from N300 to N500, with fares like N500 from Post Office to Tanke – Unilorin and N400 for students, staff, and the public traveling from Oyun to UITH and Okeose. The elimination of these fares represents a significant relief for residents who depend on these services.
Governor AbdulRazaq has consistently implemented free transportation measures during times of need, previously offering similar support during the fuel scarcity and currency swap under former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
As the economic reforms initiated by the Tinubu government continue to unfold, the governor remains committed to providing subsidized and free transportation options to help mitigate their impact on Kwara residents.
