Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency Seals Off Ilorin Building Over Environmental Law Violation

The Kwara State Environmental Protection Agency has sealed off a residential building in Ilorin for exposing human waste to the environment through a defective soakaway system. The Agency’s Acting General Manager, Hajia Idayat Folorunsho Adeola, represented by Sanitarian Abigail Are, said the action followed a complaint from a concerned resident and was aimed at protecting the community from health risks and enforcing environmental laws. She explained that the unhygienic practice could lead to the outbreak of infectious diseases like cholera if left unchecked. The Agency also urged the public to cooperate with the government in its fight against open defecation to prevent the spread of avoidable diseases.
