Kwara Police Announce Security Measures to Ensure Peace During Christmas, New Year Celebrations
As the Christmas and New Year festivities approach, the Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya psc(+), Kwara State Command, extends warm greetings to all residents. With the season of joy and celebration upon us, it is essential to prioritize the safety and security of everyone in Kwara State. In light of this, several security measures and guidelines have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and safe environment during the holiday season.
One key measure is the prohibition of fireworks, bangers, and other explosive devices. The use, sale, or distribution of these items is strictly forbidden due to the serious security and safety risks they pose, including causing panic and providing cover for criminal activities. Violators will face the full consequences of the law. Furthermore, the restriction on the movement of motorcycles (Okada) and tricycles (Keke Napep) between 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM remains in effect, aimed at curbing criminal activities and enhancing public safety.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions to ensure their personal safety during the festive season. It is advisable to avoid traveling late at night or through isolated areas, and to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the nearest security agency. Properly securing homes and vehicles, especially when attending social gatherings, is also strongly recommended. Additionally, residents should keep emergency contact numbers handy and share them with family members for added safety.
For emergencies or to report suspicious activities, residents are encouraged to contact the Kwara Control Room at 08125275046 or 07032069501. Officers will be strategically deployed across the state to ensure peace and security throughout the season. The Kwara State Police Command is dedicated to maintaining a safe and enjoyable holiday season, and residents are urged to fully cooperate with security personnel. Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year in advance.
