Kwara NSCDC Denies Poor Welfare Allegations, Promises Thorough Investigation
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media regarding poor welfare for its personnel.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesman, ASC 1 Ayoola Michael Shola, the publication was described as misleading and part of a calculated effort to undermine the Corps’ reputation and discredit the achievements made under the leadership of Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, since he assumed office over three years ago.
Shola highlighted that many of the challenges mentioned in the publication were inherited by the current leadership, but significant progress has been made to address these issues. According to the statement, there is no longer any backlog of promotion arrears, as the Federal Government has been working to resolve these matters in phases.
Additionally, peculiar allowances have now been included in personnel salaries, and the implementation of the new minimum wage has been completed, with payments set to begin shortly.
The statement further clarified that, contrary to the claims made in the publication, sector officers of the Corps had recently attended briefings in Abuja ahead of their new postings, with all necessary remunerations accounted for.
The welfare of junior officers, according to the Corps, has consistently remained a top priority for the Commandant General. The Kwara State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Umar J.G. Mohammed, has described the allegations as baseless and unreflective of the Corps’ operations.
Investigations are currently underway to identify those responsible for the malicious attempt to tarnish the image of the Corps.
In conclusion, the NSCDC issued a stern warning to those behind the misinformation, including unprofessional officers acting as tools for criminal elements. The Corps urged them to desist from any actions aimed at discrediting and maligning the organization.
