Kwara Ministry of Agriculture Warns Farmers of Upcoming Thunderstorms

The Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued a weather advisory to farmers, urging them to prepare for thunderstorms forecasted by NiMet from Tuesday to Thursday, especially in the afternoon and evening. Strong winds may precede the rains, and farmers are advised to stay cautious, avoid open fields during lightning storms, and disconnect electrical appliances when not in use. The Ministry also highlighted the risk of falling trees and unstable structures during heavy rainfall. As Kwara enters its planting season, the Ministry encourages farmers to adopt climate-smart practices, including timely land preparation, use of improved seed varieties, and efficient water management, to enhance productivity. The government reassures farmers of its continued support through timely advisories and on-field extension services.
