December 16, 2024

Kwara State House of Assembly Deputy Chief Whip, Hon. Yusuf Mariam Aladi, has empowered 1,200 constituents with items worth millions of naira to improve their livelihoods. The beneficiaries, including widows, artisans, young people, women, and persons living with disabilities (PLWDs), received various items such as cash, foodstuff, sewing machines, hair dryers, power generators, deep freezers, and a cow, among others.

The empowerment program, held in Ilorin on Sunday, drew notable attendees, including Kwara First Lady Ambassador Olufolake AbdulRazaq, represented by the Commissioner for Communications, Bola Olukoju. Other dignitaries present were Deputy Speaker of the Kwara House of Assembly, Ojo Olayiwola Oyebode, APC State Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi, and former House of Representatives member Abdulganiyu Cook Olododo. Traditional rulers, party leaders, and community representatives were also in attendance.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Aladi emphasized her commitment to complementing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s social protection programs aimed at uplifting the less privileged. She noted that her initiatives, including sponsoring the education of over 1,000 students in her constituency, are inspired by the governor’s leadership and dedication to development.

Alukoju, representing the First Lady, commended Aladi’s efforts, describing the empowerment program as a practical step toward reducing poverty and improving the local economy. She encouraged other political leaders to emulate the gesture. APC Chairman Prince Fagbemi praised Aladi’s dedication to her constituents, calling her a “lover of the masses” whose actions reflect the party’s ideology.

Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Development, advised beneficiaries to use the items effectively to boost their businesses and secure financial stability. He commended Aladi for her impactful contributions to economic development in the state.

The event featured symbolic presentations of items to beneficiaries by dignitaries, with participants expressing gratitude for the initiative. The program underscores the importance of grassroots empowerment in driving economic growth and improving living standards for citizens.
