Kwara Health Insurance to Enrol Tuberculosis, HIV Patients by June 12

The Kwara State Health Insurance Agency will begin enrolling people living with Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS into its health insurance scheme starting June 12. Executive Secretary of the Agency, Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter, announced this during a stakeholder meeting in Ilorin, noting that the scheme will cover residents across all 16 local government areas of the state. Dr. Jetawo-Winter explained that while Global Funds currently support treatment for these conditions, beneficiaries often lack coverage for other health issues. The new insurance initiative will now allow access to broader healthcare services, including treatment for malaria, infections, surgeries, and maternity care. Lawmaker Seun Ogunniyi praised the move and urged for effective implementation and public awareness.
