Kwara Govt Seeks Partnerships for Essential Services, Infrastructure Development
The Kwara State government has expressed its openness to collaborate with individuals, organizations, and institutions in enhancing access to essential services and infrastructure development across the state.
At the official launch of 10 motorized boreholes on Monday in Ekan, Oke Ero Local Government Area (LGA), the state’s Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, emphasized the importance of clean water as a fundamental right for citizens. The boreholes, facilitated by the Bank of Industry (BoI) and Kehinde Alex Bankole (KAB) Foundation, are strategically located across the ten political wards within the council area.
Alabi acknowledged that many communities, including those in Kwara State, face challenges in accessing clean water, which is a basic necessity. He expressed hope that the newly installed boreholes would alleviate water scarcity, improve public health, hygiene, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
“Our administration will continue to welcome initiatives and partnerships that will increase access to essential services and infrastructural development in the state,” Alabi stated. He also extended gratitude to the KAB Foundation and the BoI for their generous contributions, highlighting the importance of such collaborations for the well-being of local communities.
Prince Kehinde Alex Bankole, the major facilitator of the project, described the initiative as a significant step toward improving rural life, particularly for children. He stressed that providing clean water is critical for students, teachers, and the overall community, as it ensures proper sanitation, hygiene, and a healthier learning environment.
“As a Prince of this esteemed town and a firm believer in the welfare of our local communities, I’ve always believed that progress is measured by our contributions to those around us, not personal success,” Bankole said. He reiterated that the KAB Foundation’s mission is to foster lasting positive change, with the provision of clean water being one of the most pressing challenges in rural areas like Oke-Ero.
The initiative is set to impact a wide range of schools and communities, with beneficiaries including Anglican Primary School Ekan Meje, Orota Grammar School, Odo Owa, Iloffa Grammar School, Agbale Community School, and several others. The motorized boreholes will provide reliable access to clean water, alleviating the daily struggle for this essential resource and improving both educational and health outcomes for local residents.
The successful project exemplifies the collaboration between the state government, private sector, and local foundations aimed at enhancing the lives of Kwarans, particularly in rural areas.
