Kwara Government Urges Vigilance in Fight Against Tuberculosis

March 11, 2025

The Kwara State Government has urged residents, particularly in Oke Ero Local Government Area, to stay vigilant and report suspected Tuberculosis (TB) cases to government hospitals to prevent the spread of the airborne disease. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Ahmed El-Imam, emphasized the importance of early detection and treatment, highlighting the state’s efforts through medical outreaches, immunization programs, and public health initiatives. She called on the community to support awareness campaigns by encouraging those with symptoms such as persistent cough, weight loss, night sweats, and fever to seek immediate medical attention. Acknowledging the role of local councils and traditional rulers in health advocacy, she reaffirmed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s commitment to accessible quality healthcare and urged continued proactive efforts in combating TB.
