Kwara Government Urges Pensioners to Complete Residents Registration for Gratuity Payments
The Kwara State Ministry of Finance has urged all pensioners in the state and local government to complete their registration with the Kwara State Residents Registration Agency (KWSRRA). This registration is not only a crucial step for fulfilling their obligation to update data for planning and security purposes, but it will also make pensioners eligible for the payment of outstanding gratuities dating back to 2011.
Dr. Hauwa Nuru, the Commissioner for Finance, explained in a statement that the state and local governments will soon begin another round of significant payments to clear the outstanding gratuities, in addition to the consistent monthly releases. However, she emphasized that pensioners must first revalidate their information by completing the KWSRRA registration to qualify for the payments.
Pensioners can complete their registration at the Ilorin office of KWSRRA or at the KWSRRA desks located in the headquarters of their respective local government areas. Dr. Nuru also called on state and local government employees who have not yet completed their registration to do so promptly, assuring them that the government is committed to ensuring timely salary payments.
The Commissioner highlighted that the ongoing KWSRRA registration exercise is crucial for improving the accuracy of government data, sanitizing the payroll system, and promoting transparency. She emphasized that the registration process is a vital step toward ensuring the effective and accurate management of payments for both pensioners and employees.
