Kwara government urges Farmers to Brace for Thunderstorms Ahead of Planting Season

April 22, 2025

The Kwara State Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has advised farmers to take precautionary measures following a weather forecast by NiMet predicting isolated thunderstorms and high temperatures across the state. As preparations for the 2025 planting season begin, the Ministry emphasized safety and planning to protect farm infrastructure, livestock, and farmer well-being as farmers are urged to avoid open fields during storms, secure equipment, shelter livestock, and stay hydrated during peak heat while extension officers have been directed to raise awareness and offer guidance, as part of the state government’s push for climate-smart, resilient agriculture.
