Kwara Government to Immunize Over 1 million Children in Polio Fight

The Kwara State government is set to immunize over one million children under five during the Immunization Plus Days from April 26 to 29, 2025, as part of efforts to strengthen protection against polio. The exercise, covering all 16 local government areas, aims to prevent a resurgence of the virus, especially with risks posed by outbreaks in other countries and circulating vaccine-derived strains. The state’s Primary Health Care Development Agency assured that the vaccine is safe for all children regardless of prior vaccination history as parents, caregivers, and community leaders are encouraged to support the campaign as health teams will be visiting homes, markets, schools, and places of worship to ensure wide coverage.
