Kwara Government Reaffirms Commitment to Child Protection

The Kwara State House of Assembly has called on the state government to fully enforce the Street Begging Prohibition Law, following concerns over its social and security implications, as the lawmakers highlighted the growing trend of street begging and urged the formation of a committee to assess its root causes and propose effective solutions. Furthermore, they also advocated for community-based task forces to aid in the rehabilitation of beggars as the House conducted the first reading of a bill to amend the law against secret cults, aiming to introduce harsher penalties for offenders.
