Kwara Government Opens Unity Road for Yuletide
The Kwara State Government has announced the opening of the road component of the Murtala Muhammed Unity Bridge project for public use starting December 21, 2024.
Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, the Hon. Commissioner for Works and Transport, made the announcement during an inspection of the project in Ilorin. While expressing satisfaction with the progress, Olododo confirmed that the bridge itself would remain closed for the time being, pending further work.
He also issued a warning against encroachment on the walkways and government setbacks, stressing that such violations would attract penalties. In his statement, Olododo urged citizens to take responsibility for the maintenance and preservation of public infrastructure to ensure its longevity.
During the inspection, Olododo was accompanied by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, and the Special Assistant on Infrastructure, Engr. Ladi Yusuf.
The Commissioner called on residents to continue supporting the Governor’s vision for a better Kwara and to make the most of the newly opened road, especially during the festive season.
